One of our newest members proves that BAAPT’s appeal spreads throughout the greater Bay Area -- Emy Zettner joins us from Walnut Creek! Emy became a BAAPT member a year ago and has ENFP preferences.

Please meet Emy in her own words:

What do you do for a living?
Currently I am a full-time graduate student in a counseling program for Marriage and Family Therapy. I also teach art part-time at an elementary school. In the past I have been a graphic designer and a middle school teacher.

How do you use type?
Originally I used type as a teen and college student to understand myself and my family members. Throughout my years of teaching, I have used type to understand student group dynamics, individual learning preferences, professional collaboration and communication, and to plan curriculum.  Personally, I have applied type in my interpersonal relationships with others as well as in my own self-development. Moving forward in my new career, I hope to use type as a lens to help my clients become more aware of themselves and as tool for their personal growth.

What do you value about being a BAAPT member?
I really enjoy the content and variety of the presentations. Each speaker brings a new or unique way of looking at type. In the past year I've learned about additional type models and frameworks that have been really useful in my overall understanding of personality. I especially enjoy presentations that have gone deep into specific functions and ones that have related type to other areas of life. I most value feeling part of a diverse community of professional people who share enthusiasm and interest in topics that I find important, interesting, and that resonate so strongly with me.

Anything else you would like others to know about you?
I hope to continue participating in BAAPT for years to come! Thank you for all being so welcoming.

Delighted to read about you Ema and time as a middle school and art teacher, as I enjoy over a decade as a 'sub' in Brentwood. I learned about Myers Briggs when I felt surrounded with I..J executive manager types and their challenges with my ENFP. Ideas I would get surrounded with open art studios and museums - why can't we do this at BART? then later it could happen! Enjoy BAAPT membership with fascination for decades! and in your various journeys of adventures, as this has helped me understand knowing conflicts can effectively be resolved./evolve with life-long learnings..
