We're happy to inform you that BAAPT is alive and well during the summer months.

  • Welcome to the 2015-16 program year and thanks for renewing your membership! We're about half way to our goal, and are looking forward to a great year ahead. Here's a preview of the programs to come.
  • Back by popular demand this summer are our free, informal Type Talks. These are a great way to interact with fellow BAAPT members in a relaxed round-table format in a member's home. The first one, on June 13, will focus on reflecting on your favorite programs during the past year. Register Now!
  • Want to become more expert about type? Plan to attend the APTi 21st Biennial Conference -- Growing Type Expertise -- in Miami, July 22 - 26. It's a great way to network with the movers and shakers of the type community.  And as a chapter member, you get a $100 discount!  More...
  • Stay connected with fellow BAAPT members and other enthusiasts. For a convenient way to contact others between meetings,  join Google+.  More...
  • Help promote BAAPT via Meetup. Meetup has proven to be a very successful way to attract new people to BAAPT. And it could be even more successful if you join our group and RSVP through it. That projects a more realistic,  -- and attractive -- picture of the number of people who attend. Questions? Contact Vicki Brown vlb@cfcl.com.
  • Lastly, a memorial service for Judy Grutter is being held on Saturday, June 6th, in Lake Tahoe. More...

Have a great month,

It's hard to believe that we're reaching the end of our 2014-15 regular program year. It's been a fantastic year, and although our usual Saturday morning presentations are over for a while, BAAPT will continue to be alive and well during the summer months. Watch for more details coming your way soon!

  • Plan to help us wind things up on Saturday, May 9th, with Bob McAlpine. Bob, a long time friend of BAAPT, is from the East Coast, and is a major player in the national and international Type community. You won't want to miss seeing him!  More...
  • The end of the current program year marks the beginning of the new membership year. Again, the Membership Team has come up with a great incentive for those who join or renew their BAAPT membership at the May meeting. Bring your checkbook!
  • Speaking of new members, welcome to Jan Allen,  a Performance Consultant and Coach from  Mountain View who joined at our meeting last month.
  • Two FREE APTi webinars are happening soon!  More...
  • Save the date -- Saturday, July 18 (3rd Saturday of the month). Peter Geyer is stopping on his way from Australia to the APTi conference in Miami to present to us about "Consciousness, History, Psychological Type, Society - A Dip in Tangled Waters". Details coming soon.
  • Plans are going nicely for the APTi 21st Biennial Conference:  Growing Type Expertise, which will be held in Miami, July 22 - 26. The Bay Area's own Sharon Richmond and Laurie Lippin are keynote speakers!  More...
  • Want to become more adept with Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media?  More...
  • If you wanted to contact Bay Area Type enthusiasts, how would you do it?  More...

BAAPT News for March/April 2015

So many great things to share with you this month...

  • We're excited to have Doris Fullgrabe present to us on April 11th. Born in Germany and having lived in several different countries -- as well as U.S. states -- Doris knows what she's talking about when it comes to Type and Culture! Please plan to attend. The afternoon workshop is optional, and will be held in Fremont beginning at 2 p.m.
  • If you responded to our Membership team's summer activity survey message sent on March 19th, thank you! If not, there's still time. You can access the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SC65R2L
  • We're thrilled to welcome 19 new members to BAAPT this year. Be sure to say hello to them when you get the chance. More...
  • Those of you who follow our calendar closely will notice that we've had a change of speakers in May. Danielle Poirier, regrettably, is not able to present as originally planned. However, we are really lucky that Bob McAlpine -- a leader in the Type Community -- is able to step in! It's been several years since Bob last spoke to us, and in the meantime he has conducted several trainings with Adam Frey and John Beebe. We're thrilled to have Bob back.
  • Save the date! Saturday, July 18, 2015. We're going to take advantage of the fact that Type expert Peter Geyer will be in the U.S. to attend the APTi conference in July. Peter hails from Australia, and it's a treat to be able to have him speak to us in person. Watch for more details.
  • Speaking of the APTi conference, Sharon Richmond -- one of our Bay Area's own -- is a keynote speaker. If you're wanting to grow your type expertise, Miami is the place to be July 22 through the 26th.

See you on the 11th!

  • MeetUp has proven to be a successful way for people to find out about BAAPT meetings. And we're asking you to help make it even stronger. More...

BAAPT News for January, 2015

12/31/2014

Happy New Year! With the onset of 2015, it's a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the past, and anticipate changes for the future.

  • A huge accomplishment in 2014 was celebrating BAAPT's 30th Anniversary. What fun it was to reminisce about the founding years, and to reacquaint with former members during various social events held throughout the year.
  • Another was welcoming many new members to continue our strong legacy in the Type community. (On a related note, please see the message below regarding the revised Member Directory coming soon.)
  • As for changes ahead...we'll be electing some new Board Members at the January meeting, after which Adam Frey will pass the gavel to Rob Weston as President for 2015.
  • Another major change is the redesign of the BAAPT website! Sincere thanks to Mike Murphy and Vicki Brown for their diligent efforts over the past many months to create a brighter, more user-friendly site.

I look forward to another year spent with you to learn more about Type, and to apply it to our everyday lives.

Wishing you a happy, healthy and prosperous 2015,

Julie Wright, BAAPT Marketing Director

P. S.  Don't hesitate to contact us with questions.  We look forward to seeing you at this event.

New Member Directory Coming Soon!

The new quarterly edition of the BAAPT Membership Directory will be published in early January. Members' type preferences will be among the information included.

Note: If for any reason you don't want your type preferences displayed in the directory, please email database@baapt.org before January 10th.

BAAPT News for December 2014

11/25/2014

The theme for this month's newsletter is teamwork. It takes a village of volunteers to make a successful organization such as BAAPT.

Here are just a few examples:

  • Did you do a double-take when you saw the name of a different presenter for the December program? You're right, Sharon Richmond had an unexpected family event arise and had to change plans. Luckily for us, Judy MacLaren agreed to step in. Having lived and breathed change management during her many years as a Certified Associate at Lee Hecht Harrison, where she worked with executives and other career changers in many settings, she's a natural to present the topic!
  • A number of people have been BAAPT members for most of its 30 years. One member, in particular, has been a steadfast volunteer and cheerleader for BAAPT. In this issue we salute Richard Hendrickson.
  • The Programs Committee has begun planning for the 2015-16 program year, and wants to hear your ideas for topics and speakers. Be a team player and send your thoughts to programs@baapt.org.
  • Do you enjoy refreshments at the meetings? And borrowing books from the library? Would you miss them if we didn't have them? Rob Weston is moving into the BAAPT presidency in January,  and we need someone to fill the Meeting Services Director position Rob has filled for the past six years.  Here's your chance to be a team player and help ensure that the monthly meetings continue as we know them. To learn more, send an email to operations@baapt.org.
  • Want a win-win situation? If you're planning to do your holiday shopping through Amazon.com, you can help BAAPT at the same time...with no added cost to you! Use the BAAPT online store, and a percentage of your purchase is credited to our chapter. How easy is that?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, and we'll see you on the 13th!
-- Julie Wright, BAAPT Marketing Director

BAAPT News for November 2014

10/23/2014

Welcome to our new (and for many of you, resurrected) monthly announcement format. We're expanding our message to serve more like a monthly newsletter so that we can share interesting items in addition to announcing the next program.

For instance,

  • Our BAAPT Library catalog has undergone some major renovations! The catalog is now online with an Index, cover images, and a description page for each book.
  • For those of you who may have missed last month's session -- Type & Dreams presented by Meredith Sabini -- we offer a short recap.
  • One of the benefits of BAAPT membership is being able to list your services in our Practitioner Directory. The directory is now alive and well on baapt.org, and is a helpful resource whether you are looking for clients, or for qualified Type practitioners.
  • And, of course, we have an outstanding program lined up for Saturday, November 8. Rachel Fitzgerald and Mark Shumway will lead us in a lively discussion of Type and Spirituality. I know for a fact that they have been working diligently (with the assistance of long-time member Richard Hendrickon) to prepare a very meaningful session. Please let us know whether or not you can attend...your responses really help us plan for handouts and refreshments.

We hope that you like our new format and that you'll offer suggestions for future editions.

Julie Wright, BAAPT Marketing Director

Announcing the BAAPT Practitioner Directory
The BAAPT Practitioner Directory is a great way to promote your services or to locate a Type practitioner. BAAPT members may add their information by contacting webmaster@baapt.org.

Take a look at the newly designed BAAPT Library catalog!
We'd love to add reviews and comments for the books over time. If you have a comment for a book, please email it to the marketing team at marketingteam@baapt.org.
