Opening Session: Welcome & Introduction
During this brief opening session, you'll begin to examine your life through cognitive functional perspectives.
Also, you'll get a sense of the journey ahead in this Connections Series.
Program 1:
Break Free from the Confines of Your persona
with Teodora Paucean
Overview
The session will focus on the idea that Psychological Type is a powerful tool for understanding and building a persona, as well as for escaping from its confines. One of the biggest sources of suffering in the world is the over-focus on the persona, on impressing others rather than connecting to our essence. This session will give an overview on why this matters so much and how it can look like for each Type. It will also cover different ways in which we can take a step back and re-connect to our deeper selves.
Takeaways
Gain a better understanding on what persona means and how it influences your life
Develop strategies to better connect to your authentic self
Become more confident in your true self and connect with others meaningfully as a result of that

Program 2:
Examples of the Persona in Film
Facilitated by Carol Shumate with Elise Amaral
Overview
Join us as we discuss the persona, the benefits of the persona, and outgrowing a persona, as depicted in 3 film clips of 3 different types. How do these types exemplify John's keywords for the functions in the persona position?

Program 3:
Probing the Persona
with John Beebe
Overview
John Beebe (ENTP) uses the terms 'persona,' 'ego,' and 'self' to characterize stages in the development and expression of the eight mental processes that Jung identified as the building blocks of psychological type. These terms come from analytical psychology, but Jung did not apply them in the context of type. Persona is how the function looks when it is simply trying to adapt and appear competent. Ego is how the function looks when it is asserting its intention. Self is how the function works when it is in the midst meeting its goals in a way that it finds fulfilling. This first seminar in the series will focus on how we can recognize the eight types of consciousness when they are being presented at the persona level.
Takeaways
Think in a new way about how you use your different consciousnesses and how you can deepen each of them over time.
Find out why the face people use to meet the world is more important than you might think.
Learn how to better recognize the eight types of consciousness when you first see other people using them.
