If you've stopped by our membership table in the lobby before one of our meetings, you've met Shyrl! But aside from knowing that she's resourceful and helpful, with a smile of greeting for members and guests, do you know anything else about her?

Read more about Shyrl in her own words:
I first joined BAAPT in its beginning when it met at Stanford. My husband Pat and I were co-chairs of the program committee for two years. Type has been a core part of me, personally and professionally, since I was first introduced to it in the mid-1970’s.

Professionally, I have used Type in teacher training, personal coaching, team building, organizational decision-making, personal spirituality and leadership development. I offer Type in my business – Fearless Conversations.  After many years in a wide variety of organizational settings, the one thing I really want to be about is helping people talk to one another. The barriers to talking with one another jeopardize so many good endeavors and important missions of organizations and businesses. Type is a wonderful tool for helping people break through some of the barriers and fears that keep us from talking to one another.

I am currently having lots of fun with a new approach I am developing to present Type solely with the eight functions. I have always wanted to present Type in a more dynamic way than what is represented by the Type table and I’m delighted by what I’m discovering about how to do that.  I meet a lot of people who have taken the MBTI®, but don’t have a clue what their “letters” mean. Using the eight function approach, I am intrigued to see how quickly people can reach for understanding of Type in both its complexity and clarity and begin to apply it to their personal and professional lives. I enjoy creating the space for them to work and play with it.
