Posting Title: 2010 Letter from the President Body: Dear Type Enthusiasts, We’re looking forward to another exciting year with world-renowned speakers such as Angelo Spoto, Dario Nardi, Susan Nash, Elizabeth Murphy, and more! What an advantage we have here in the San Francisco Bay Area: monthly access to interactive presentations with leaders in the wider Type community, as well as networking with dozens of local Type enthusiasts! This is BAAPT’s 27th year! We’re especially proud of BAAPT’s rich heritage and offerings as the leading APTi chapter in providing such an array of live, interactive programs, and so many benefits to members. Your Board of Directors is pleased to have achieved reductions in operating costs, allowing us to decrease member pricing for workshops and special events, and to invite first-time guests to sample a regular program with a complimentary pass. In addition to a dozen Type events in 2010-2011, BAAPT members can receive our Membership Directory and free continuing education units (CEUs), and use our extensive Lending Library of Type books, videos and past program CDs. This is easily equivalent to training opportunities available from other sources which could cost $3-5K to obtain. Additionally, members have unique opportunities to contribute to our chapter’s ongoing success by becoming a volunteer or serving on the BAAPT Board. Our soon-to-be improved and expanded website will provide space for members to contribute articles and book reviews, and to participate in the discussion on our web log. We’re delighted to offer excellent value to Bay Area Type enthusiasts, and encourage you to join now!
